Half-baked Kentucky fried chick

"All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression." ~ Thomas Jefferson

Kim Davis is in her fourth marriage, wanting the right to not uphold the Constitution or honor the oath she took on the grounds that gay marriage violates her religious beliefs. She claims to be a Democrat.

Davis says she will not resign her $80,000-a-year job and will never issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples – even if the Supreme Court insists. I would gladly take an $80k job in Kentucky where the cost of living is nominal. That's like earning $200k per year in many big cities.

Click here to read the Appeal she had filed which was denied, providing the impetus for her “emergency” filing with the Supreme Court.

The only emergency I see necessary is for the State of Kentucky to impeach this uncivil servant post haste, strip her of that cushy salary, jail her for contempt of court, and prosecute her for treason since she refuses to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

In the Supreme Court filing found here, her attorney cited an excerpt of a quote from Samuel Adams (one of our country's founding fathers, not the beer), attempting to mislead the reader as to its intent.
Indeed, those seeking freedom in matters of conscience—though ‘driven from every other corner of the earth, direct their course to this happy country as their last asylum.’”

Now here’s the unedited quote:
“Freedom of thought and the right of private judgment, in matters of conscience, driven from every other corner of the earth, direct their course to this happy country as their last asylum.”

Notice that Adams referred to freedom of thought, not freedom of action... along with the right of private judgment, not the right of public judgment. While Davis is free to think what she wants and free to privately judge same-gender couples wanting to get married, she is not free to deny them their constitutional rights in the course of her job wherein she was elected to public (not private) office.

Kim Davis needs to read this humble HuffPost article by Ronnie Musgrove, former Governor of Mississippi. While in office, he had passed a law denying LGBT couples the right to adopt children. He was also vehemently opposed to gay marriage due to his religious beliefs. However, in 2013, he had a change of conscience and publicly reversed his position with a graceful mea culpa.

Since Davis is asking to be granted asylum, perhaps someone should give her the address of one? Aw heck, in lieu of a padded cell, a jail cell will suffice.
