Unicorns, Cockroaches, and Startups, oh my

For months it's been discussed ad nauseam that Unicorns are dying. (SquattyPotty might take exception to that!)

I hate to burst your bubble, but I could've told you that was inevitable (and I'm not a professional investor). Putting a billion dollar valuation on a company with no revenue simply because it's started by someone who may have struck oil before is foolish. Investing hu
ndreds of millions into a business void of revenue is similarly foolish. And as they say, a fool and his money are soon parted.

Is Judge Vance Day anti-gay AND anti-Semitic?

Here's an update to my earlier blog about Judge Vance Day, the Marion County (Salem, Oregon) judge currently being investigated after he announced he would not perform same-gender marriages.

It now turns out that the allegations against him from staffers cross into WTF territory. He required a picture of Hitler to be on the wall, and alleges he did it to honor Veterans!

Oregon judge: Hitler photo was hung to honor veterans

According to a KOIN6 online article, "A judicial assistant working under Judge Day said he hung pictures in her work space even though she expressed that she did not want them."
The article goes on to report that court documents reveal: “When his judicial assistant removed the items while Judge Day was on vacation, Judge Day told her that he is a ‘benevolent dictator’ and that she ‘works at his pleasure.'”

Marion Co. judge accused of ethical misconduct

On Monday, November 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., there will be a Public Hearing at the Willamette Heritage Center, Dye House, 1313 Mill Street SE, Salem, Oregon.

Before Judge Day gets his day in court, let's hope the people of Marion County demand justice be served and insist this judge be benched from the bench.

When in Rome...

"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful."
Lucius Annaeus Seneca (Statesman in Ancient Rome: 5 BC-65 AD)

Kim Davis and her minions display hypocrisy and ignorance of the very tenets they preach. She and they claim to be following their god's "word" with their beliefs and actions. They are being rather selective as to which bible passages they follow and which they ignore.

How is it that I, an Atheist, understand Romans 13; New International Version, yet bigots who broadcast their alleged devotion to Christian principles do not?

Judge not lest ye be judged

Today a Marion County Judge in Salem, Oregon has announced that he will not perform civil union marriages to same-gender couples. He cites it goes against his alleged First Amendment right to religious freedom.

Looking behind him, one wonders if he thinks it's still 1859, given his antiquated thinking and prejudices. Meet Judge Vance D. Day, with the initials: V.D. Day.

Krazy Kentucky Klerk sent to the slammer!

Today, U.S. District Judge Bunning of Kentucky — ordered Kim Davis to jail until she agrees to do her job according to the oath she took to uphold the U.S. Constitution. Unfortunately, this fame-seeking bigot getting paid $70,000 per year to not do her job, is now a martyr for the religious right.

A Higher Hire Authority

Despite the Supreme Court's ruling, Kim Rowan, the ignorant bigoted Kentucky clerk, still refuses to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. When asked under whose authority, she responded, "God's." It seems Rowan is guilty of copyright infringement.

More about Kentucky's ignorant bigot of the week: Kim Davis

You've probably already heard or read the recent story about Kim Davis, the Rowan County clerk in Kentucky who refused to sign same-gender marriage licenses, and is now appealing her right to not do her job to the Supreme Court. Talk about a waste of taxpayers' money all around!

Half-baked Kentucky fried chick

"All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression." ~ Thomas Jefferson

Cherish your children takes on a whole new meaning

This past week, Cherish Peterson  a 27-year-old mother with four young children in Gilbert, Arizona – "forgot" her infant in a shopping cart outside of a hair salon, and drove home. It wasn't until forty minutes later when she arrived home that she realized her baby wasn't in the car.

Why is the mainstream media ignoring Bernie Sanders?

A friend posed this question on her Facebook wall this morning. Coming from a career in the entertainment industry, here's my theory.

Bernie Sanders is not perceived as charismatic. He comes off as a schlub who lacks polish. He doesn't put on a "show." He's Larry David when people want Kevin Spacey. A president needs to have chutzpah and know when to be ruthless. Read more about why I think Bernie is being "trumped" by the media.

To President Obama & Congress: It is time to Legalize Marijuana at the Federal Level

Mr. President and Members of Congress,

This is about legalizing, thereby decriminalizing marijuana federally. The citizens of our country have made their voices heard on this subject by passing laws at the state level. Ironically, the use of medical marijuana is legal right there in the nation's capital, in Washington, DC, yet still illegal under federal law.

The Controlled Substances Act is in direct violation of the 9th and 10th Amendments in the US Constitution, and is therefore unconstitutional.

Chew on this, Chris Christie...

Mr. Christie,

It is telling that on your presidential campaign page, you've made it impossible for American voters to send you their thoughts, compared to President Obama who has an entirely accessible administration. Are you afraid to hear feedback that doesn't support your views?

The policies you plan to implement strip us of even more of our civil liberties. You want to send America backwards, rather than being forward-thinking and acknowledging the evolution of society.

Walter Palmer brags about killing Cecil

"Reviled dentist Walter Palmer tried — but failed —
to impress a waitress with his hunting prowess
by showing her a gruesome photo of Cecil’s carcass."
Palmer told the waitress at Doolittle Woodfire Grill
in Alexandria, Minnesota, that he held the record
for killing the "world’s biggest lion."

Hail Cecil the Lion!

Photo copyright owner: National Geographic
No infringement intended.
Used for news purpose only.
The story of Cecil, the majestic Zimbabwe lion, has been in the news as I write this. He was lured out of his protected habitat by Walter Palmer (a Minnesotan dentist), helped by some guides, where Palmer shot Cecil with an arrow, but failed to kill him. (Palmer, obviously not very competent with a bow-and-arrow, refers to his "hobby" of killing animals as something he does for "fun." Since when is killing anything fun?)
Palmer and the guides then hunted the injured and suffering lovely lion before killing, beheading, and skinning him, all in the name of “sport.”

I am Rachel Wolf.

FOREWORD

Here’s a story about a lovely lady... who was trying to make a difference for abused animals.

This is a case of life being stranger than fiction. I often wish this was merely a nightmare and that when I awoke I would discover it didn't happen. While you may raise an eyebrow -- and if you can raise only one eyebrow, I'm jealous -- thinking my story strains credulity, I assure you this is 100% true. It reflects the sad state of humanity and the dangers of the Internet where people think they can hide behind false identities and anonymity to do harm to others without consequence.

If you are someone who has been bullied, stalked, or defamed, perhaps my story will resonate with you and help you feel less alone. If you have experienced something this horrible, my heart goes out to you. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, not even the vile people who did this to me. Thanks to them, I am more wise and less trusting. I now expect the worst of people because of what the women in this story did to me in 2011.
